Were the original Kelsey Hayes bolt on wheels for 1967 painted or were they natural finished aluminum?

The Judging Guide (5th Edition) states "The recessed area between the fins is a rough cast area and finished with a medium gray metallic paint." Here is a photo of one of my 5 original wheels back from the restorer

They had an original Irwin KO wheel screwdriver in the silent auction at the National in Denver, wow, that was expensive.

I stopped bidding at $800, it went much higher I had heard, maybe $1500?

That sounds about right. I am hearing $1500-2000 if you can find one. Aset of five perfect wheels are worth $20,000, so it is all relative I guess.

All I have to do is find one! Don, do you have your wheels on the car and if so have you done anything special to secure the starburst to prevent it from coming off while you are driving? Right now I have repros on the car and the originals are in the garage.

Enlighten me. I have seen Irwin screwdrivers that are labled 200-4 and 200-5. Were there different lenghts offered out of the 720?

Don, do you have your wheels on the car and if so have you done anything special to secure the starburst to prevent it from coming off while you are driving?

Wheels are on my car, all original starbursts/caps/clips etc and nothing special done for additional security. The original clips are quite firm and take a firm hand whack on a towel to seat the starburst on them, I just don't feel that they are a risk to fall off. So no, I do nothing special, have had no problems and the BOs have been on the car through all prior owners that I know of, no prior extra precautions mentioned.
