Keith-------
The bolts have a raised perimeter on the head, 6 radial lines extending from the raised perimeter to the "O" in the center. The configuration is the same for both front and rear bolts. However, the front bolts were 1-1/4" long whereas the rears were 1-1/8" in length. The fronts have a short unthreaded shank; the rears are all thread.
A thick split lockwasher was used with all bolts. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Joe, Keith --- I don't recall ever seeing a split lockwasher, fronts or rears. Also the exploded view in the Shop manuals and the P&A parts books show no washer.- Top

Wayne------
The caliper half bolts used for 1965-E67 were PLACE bolts as you have pictured. This type of bolt has an inherent locking capability; that's the only reason for using place bolts. Strangely, the L67-82 bolts were just conventional hex head bolts and no lock washer was used. So, I guess for 1965-E67 1st design calipers GM thought that thread locking was important (place bolts are expensive; in fact, far more expensive than a plain bolt with a lock washer). However, for 2nd design L67-82, they apparently reconsidered and felt that NO thread locking was needed. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 1966 caliper mounting bolt head markings
Original head markings include, 0, TR, M, WB and []. Rear caliper bolts could be threaded all the way or sometimes the spindle flange to 1/2 shaft flange bolts were used which have a 3/8" or so shoulder. Front bolts are 1-1/4" and rears are 1"- Top

Re: 1966 caliper mounting bolt head markings
Keith, just curious what year is your corvette? I had some of those bolt head markings on my 63 and thought these bolts looked like they had been on there many years due to the rust. they where I believe attaching my front bumpers if I remember correctly.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top
