    Rochester confusion

I have a 7040509 which is for a '70 big block 4 speed truck. The date code numbers are 1564. Doesn't this translate to the 156th day of 1964? Any help would be great .

It's most likely a service replacement carb, 156th day of 1974.

Does it have a triangle casting on the front of it? If so, service replacement.

Thanks Mike. Yes that casting is there and after more investigating I found the letters RP all over it. Reproduction?

RP equals Rochester Products. The carb you have would have been made by them, in 1974.

I've read that the Q-Jet was introduced late in the '65 model year (for Chevy but not Corvette). They weren't used on Corvette until the C3s.

Mike Furline- Is that a photo of your car's engine? The rubber hose splice looks like a real fire hazard. Consider making it a priority to replace it with an original style steel line. The Vette parts houses sell pre-bent lines for your engine and they're not expensive.

It was when I first bought it.
