Sounds like a great find. As already mentioned don't throw anything away since 63s have a lot of unique parts. You are better off having them refurbished then buying repops.
Does the car have original rims and wheel discs?- Top

Re: 1963 Coupe Barn Find And New to NCRS
image.jpgimage.jpgDon,
From the archives, you can see former owner Gord Summers, a Canadian student in Longview traded me even for a 62 silver/red 340 car. That was a good deal for me back then. The new plates just put on shows 1969 in the photo along with AG wheels from my new 68. It was fairly quick but this looked quicker then I put the old black wheels, black walls and unfrosted hubcaps back on. As we discussed the body mods were done by a former owner to Summers by a Corvette body shop owner. Good thing some of us keep this stuff. Enjoy.......waiting for your stamped self addressed envelope for more. Regards, Tom- Top

A mixture of hydrogen peroxide and baking soda will get rid of most odors on many types of materials.
Test a small area first (to test for discoloration etc.)
Rub the mixture in and let it stand until dry.
Then vacuum up the dried up baking soda.
May need to repeat this if the odor is very bad. Good Luck, T- Top

I think that I have some paperwork from previous Corvettes that I have owned. This has inspired me to try to see if I can find any subsequent owners and offer them the paperwork. Thanks again. Looking forward to seeing you at the next Woodward Dream Cruise if you are able to make it - August 20, 2016 - always the third Saturday in August.- Top

[QUOTE=Michael Bailey (3021);751925]Hey Donald,
Congrats on your new project. Just finished a '63 roadster restoration. Its VIN 113XX, which was built in the fourth week of March. I live in the Detroit area, so if you ever have any questions or just want to discuss the finer or less fine points of '63's, don't be shy.

Oh, you are THAT Mike Bailey. I still chuckle about the time that you (gently) told me that I was "driving like a maniac" in the TTP parking lot.

Don,
That was a long time ago when I made that comment about your driving skills in the TTP parking lot. Now that you are older, I am certain you drive more carefully. My son, Mike L. Bailey, and I restoered our 1963 roadster. Mike L. is a VSE working on the C7, and C8 Corvette. I am now retired and enjoying every day. Call me sometime and we can arrange a visit to look at our 1963 and my 1961 Corvette that I have owned since 1970 having purchased it from it original owner.

Re: 1963 Coupe Barn Find And New to NCRS
image.jpgHi Don and others,
Another Barn find right in my own back yard. I had heard over the years this 63 was sitting under a tarp in a yard in NOTL for the past 7 years or so. Often heard the previous owner turned down thousands of times chances to sell but refused. In the past few days a serious, sensible, polite market correct offer was made and the car was cut loose. Talk about timing. It didn't look like this 1/2 a day ago prior to a serious talented spiffy up. Appears to be an original 340 hp with all original glass, drivetrain, chrome and chassis. After sitting all that time with some fresh Shell V power in a bone empty tank, it fired right up. Fabulous underbody previously from California will make a great driver once a direction has been made where the next owner wants to take this. They keep turning up.- Top

Re: 1963 Coupe Barn Find And New to NCRS
Hi Don,
i just made contact with Ronnie Hart. He was 3 rd owner after me in 1969 and I think 4 th before you. He was quite surprised to learn of its find and back in the day this car was confused with 2 others from time to time in our area. He said it would be OK to contact him to share some stories. He sold the car to Gallagher and bought the car from Butts. He was unaware of my cousin Bruce who bought it from me. All he could say is that was one fast car back in the day. PM me for his phone number.
