My 73 convertible has a hole in the center of the deck lid and now has a black rubber plug in it. The car had a hardtop on it at one time in its past because it still has the outline of where the top rested on the deck lid. I can't see any bolt holes you guys are talking about on the sides of my deck lid I took a few pictures and have included them below. Also, I now have a question as to whether my car came originally with a hard top. I do have my original build sheet. On the left side where the options are listed it shows C05 which is the code for Folding Top. Would that be the same location on the build sheet for the C07 hardtop code? Tom Russo and I discussed my build sheet extensively. I don't think a hard top code would have been present in the center of the sheet where much of it was missing where it was glued to the tank. Other visible codes in the center area were N40,QRM,U69,VK3 FRT License-N,. These are the only options on my car. We did agree that perhaps the only one missing would have been the code for the white top.

I can't see the location of the side nuts in any of your photos. The nuts, if present, are on the INSIDE surface of the deck lid "wings (the right side "wing" is shown in your third photo but the inside surface is not shown). In any event, no nuts means either the car was not originally equipped with a hard-top OR this is not the original deck lid.

image.jpgimage.jpgThis is a picture of the deck on my '73. Just behind the seat back is the threaded nut and in the center is the fuerel. There is a cap covering the fuerel. Also, though a bit dark, is the underside.

        Thanks guys,
After reading your posts and looking at your photos I agree with Lyle's earlier post in that the nuts would be present on a C07 car. Idon't believe now that the car was ever an original hard top car. Although it was on the car at some point in its past for quite awhile just by the amount of rub mark in the deck lid. There is no sign of any nuts or holes where they may have been on the deck. Just think one of the previous owners installed one themselves and used the rear push pin fasteners like the soft top. Also no sign of a hard top code on my build sheet.
        thank you.
