53-54 Soft Top Flipper Moulding Assembly

I've purchased new springs to repair the flipper assemblies on an early 54. Unfortunately I can't seem to figure out how to install the springs. I suspect the flippers are missing a piece that retains the springs but I can't determine for sure. I've searched and searched the web but can't find any drawings for photos that show how the springs are attached. Does anyone have a drawing or photo that will assist me in installing new springs for the flippers?

Here's what I have, including one of the new springs. I have the chrome cover but don't show it in the photos. It will be simple to attach after the flipper and spring are properly installed.

Hi Eric,
Thought I would jump on this thread....I have an early 54 myself with the flipper mouldings. Have a set but will need restoration - yours look very nice. Are they reproductions or did you have someone restore them for you? Seeking out someone for this work but just do not want to turn them over to anyone.

Steve Newsome and Brett Henderson both restore the flipper mouldings.
Steve did a set for me last year
Brett has done count less sets.

Eric - the top of your flipper moulding cover is missing - do you have it ?

I have the cover, which has been finished. I just need a photo that shows how the spring attaches to the flipper. Chris, since you have a restored pair is there any chance you can post or send me a photo of how the tension spring attaches to the flipper? I know the spring applies tension to keep the flipper from bouncing up and down but I can't figure out how it attaches.John, I know what you mean about a reliable source, that's why I restored them myself.
