    Bill,

I use plain ole white lithium grease, but that is what I was taught was correct for friction surfaces like striker plates and door hinges. This is probably not OEM, if there was any grease used at all. I've often wondered if silicone grease is a better alternative, since it is specifically called for in plumbing applications where water is present. Perhaps someone more knowledgeable will chime in.

      Bill,

If memory serves , the felt seal that goes next to the bearing should be oiled , but the ball and cup were not , nor were they supposed to be , greased.

That being said I think I applied a very light coat of Black Chassis Grease to mine , just cause !

I don't recall whether I used white grease or never seize.

Use the nylon balls and lub is not really necessary.

Would recommend using any synthetic based bearing grease that has the viscosity to stay in the bearings and the metal balls/cups. I would never be caught dead with nylon balls on an NCRS restoration!!!!! LOL

Wouldn't have the balls to do it JR.

White lithium grease tends to dry out fast. I recommend a synthetic like Mobil 1 grease.
