Not to be detrimental of course. Old JD stole nice flat screen TV out of the family room and uses it for a monitor.
The passenger side of the engine compartment shows a ton of issues. But the strangest thing is the distributor. Vacuum advance is parallel with the firewall. Curve/advance of the distributor is a mile off.
One would expect a stamped plenum with the serial number of the car.
Exhaust manifold from a carb car. John D.

Looks like it has the rare 8 vin number derivative in the vin stamp. 51104945 instead of 5104945

A note of caution......this would appear to be a "strike" car by VIN; is the block casting 3858180? Were such blocks assembled in Tonawonda or shipped to Flint for assembly?

To add to John's observations - no seat belts, standard steering column with a tele column trip reset, windows cranks wrong, 1 blue-1 black door pull, grab assist insert wrong color, later valve covers with casting flaw, jack storage area has rough glass repair -probably from a broken u-joint. The list goes on & on & on but time is short. I'm off to a BBQ.

Wow, got a lot of response from all my fellow members about my old fuelie. It looked great from 50 feet but as I walked closer I could see how much money had to be spent to restore to top flight and it just didn't make sense. I was told the car was stolen and stripped and I'm sure it has led a rough life. I don't think the person selling the fuelie is trying to deceive anyone or he wouldn't have posted all those pictures. This shows you should have a knowledgable inspector when investing so much money. By the way the high bid is $48,100. Thank-you everyone for all your comments Vince

Interesting that it was once a real FI car as original owner spells out. But now it's BOGUS, too bad. But bidding shows there is still interest in it. At 65 MPH going down the road it will still turn heads.......

                  Re: 1965 Fuelie on ebay

BIG QUESTIONS: What type of documentation does he have + 2006 was 9 years ago

MORE IMPORTANTLY: Why would the seller on e-Bay create a phony engine for the car if as original owner says he has documentation that car was original F.I. car . That makes no sense !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
IF HE KNOWS THAT ORIGINAL DOCUMENTATION EXISTS HE WOULD SAY THIS ETC

The fuel injection unit is Serial number 1498 with Part Number 7017380 on a 1965 Corvette with Vin# 194375S104945
                  The unit would be a part# 2***
See page 309 of The Complete Corvette Restoration And Technical Guide 1963 to 1967

The 7017380 is the correct unit
HOWEVER !!!!!!!!!!!!!1 the serial number 1498 IS CLEARLY THE WRONG UNIT FOR a 1965 Vet with Vin #194375S104945

                  The unit would be a part# 2***
See page 309 of The Complete Corvette Restoration And Technical Guide 1963 to 1967

Note the number 16 painted on top right corner of windshield. Appears to be part of a lot number

The car has the 6500 rpm specisal high performance red line tachometer

the engine pad is 5104945 (i.e. year 65 is 5 and rest is last part vin#)

The HG suffix is correct for fuel injection manual transmission but not correct HN for a transistor ignition car

HOWEVER riginal owner says the car was transistor ignition car
                  i.e.
I hate to say to much about the car, I ordered a am/fm radio, tele column, T.I ignition, knock-off wheels, and when I sold the car in 1967 it had 45,000 miles

Maybe the car came without the transistor ignition ???????????????/

                  CONCLUSION:
Must be a restamp and not original engine PLUS why not have copies of original documents from original owner ??????????????
