    Tach cable

When putting in a Tach cable or Speedometer cable, what end do you put the brass button on? Gauge side, or distributor/ transmission side.

I don't know of any brass button associated with either a speedometer or tachometer cable. What brass button are you referring to?

Hi Paul. I too am a bit confused with your reference to "brass button". The only brass button that comes to my mind is a service replacement button that goes into the distributor to maintain positioning for the tach drive gear. I've attached a pic of the button I'm thinking about below:

Might this be what you have in mind?

Hi Don, That's not the part. On one end of the cable, about 1" in, there is a brass or nylon collar that when you put it into the shield, it bottoms out. Which one is correct? 061415_2127.jpg061415_2128.jpg

For most C3's, the instrument (i.e. speedometer and tachometer) end of the cable has a "snap-on" connector and the drive (i.e. transmission or distributor) end uses the knurled, screw-on connector. So, it's pretty easy to determine which end goes where.

Sorry about the confusion. I know what side the connectors go on, I am wondering where the Black nylon stop goes. I put it in the cable in the shield both ways. Which one is the correct way?

The stop, as you call it, goes on the instrument end.
