    Re: Memorial Day 2015

    Don;

    I don't know how it is now, but my boys came out of the AF as Captains because they wanted to fly. Back then, if you got Major it meant flying a desk in command. They pulled out after 10 to 11 years each and decided to forgo 20 retirement for a career in the Airline industry. They are both Captains with JB now and love it - much more rewarding financially and they get to fly a lot. They flew C-130's older then themselves that broke on every flight. They both were involved with the Bosnia - Kosova NATO stuff, one as a Captain (shooter) in an AC-130 gunship. He finished out his AF experience as head AC-130 Eval Pilot down at Hurlbert, FL.

          USAF 06/68-03/72...three month early out as they were already thinning the herd from our lovely little "police action".

                  When my sentence was up, I slowly turn around and walked away, hoping no one would notice me, increasing my pace until I was at full gallup.

                          Re: Memorial Day 2015

                          After working for five months at Buick in Flint, Mi. I joined the U.S. Army from Nov.4th, 1965 to Oct.8th,1968. Was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany as a guard (CP rider) for the 28th BPO. This was when Charles De Gaulle withdrew France from NATO and asked the U.S. to leave France. From Paris to Frankfurt on a converted hospital car with no heat we made stops in Metz France, Kaiserslautern Germany and Frankfurt to redistribute money's and postal effects that were consolidated in Paris for shipment. To this day I have a bitterness toward De Gaulle. Ten years later I got the 1962 Corvette that I wanted since the Drivers Education classes in the summer of "62". Thank you to my real hero's that had to endure the Hell of Viet Nam!!
