    Crayon handwriting opinions -- N03 cars

    A local Corvette friend asked me if I'd verified if the crayon "N03" marking was on the passenger foot-well (engine side) of my '65 L76 air tanker. Had to confess I'd never checked, although I had seen it on the rear bulkhead and on the transmission tunnel (just behind the radio).

    So I lay on my back today with a wet rag and my camera. Found the marking; couldn't get a really good pic because of the angle and all the associated C60 plumbing. The inner dust shields have been off at least since I bought the car 35 years ago, so road rash has taken its toll. OTOH, the A/C evaporator box (you can see the condensate drain pipe nipple) probably shielded the crayon markings from being sand-blasted completely. So... please compare all 3 scripts and tell me if the trans tunnel, (with usually written "N") was done by the same person

    For the others with the backwards "N", were they both done by the same dyslexic ?, or was the partially completed body tub inverted at that point.

    Wayne;
    Is the "N03" written from the opposite direction?

        Mike is right.

        Wayne, you should reach out and visit with Gene Leonard about his former big tank 65.

          N backwards is on a friends tanker so I think at least one GM employee needed special training back in the day

              Tony --- do you mean Gene L. no longer has his car ? We communicated a few years ago, and he sent me about 15 pics of his car. Amazingly, his car is 4 VIN #s after mine (my trim tag body is S280; his is S282). I try to visualize the assembly line at that time, pulling our N03 cars off-line for the extensive body mods, then re-inserting into production.

              Gene has his original Protect-o-Plate (I don't ), and incredibly, both our close ratio transmissions and 4.11 differentials have exactly the same assembly dates; P0916 and AP0917, respectively.

                It's highly likely that the same (dyslexic) guy grease-penciled the "N03" marking with the backwards "N" on each big-tank car; those markings were applied in the underbody subassembly operation in the basement, before the underbody went upstairs to be joined with the birdcage on the Main Line in the Body Shop. My '65 tanker that I restored in '73 also had the backwards "N" N03 markings.
