There is a nice photo of an original chrome wing nut (GM # 219281) on a 1,100 miles 1970 Z28 (Flint engine made 02/23/1970 with "CTC" code) in the link below. It looks like my original 1977 El Camino wing nut (photo above) except for the chrome. Click on "Photos", then "Requested Pictures". It is on the top row of photos, 2nd from the left, double click to enlarge the photo. This wing nut has "large ears". I'm sure that the 1970 Corvettes were issued the same wing nut since their engines were made in Flint. I assume that this 219281 wing nut was not made by the same vendor as my alleged NOS 219281 wing nut.

That Camaro is a stunning example, but I think the wing nuts went on at the car assembly plants and NOT at the engine plants. Thus if the wing nuts were the same for Camaro and Corvette it would be more coincidence than not.

You are correct. I'm glad you pointed this out. What was I thinking? The wing nuts were installed at the assembly plants. The 219281 chrome wing nut on the 1,100 mile 1970 Z28 was installed at the Nan Nuys plant in California. It might not be the same type of wing nut installed at the Norwood, Ohio (Camaro), or even the St. Louis plant (Corvette). So now I still do not know which 219281 wing nut is correct for my 1970 Camaro SS350 looooooong term project (1990 to date).

Here are 3 photos of another original 1970 Z28 wing nut (Van Nuys plant). It does not appear to be the same as the original 1,100 mile 1970 Z28 wing nut.
