      Re: First Car Show

Bob: Thanks, I will plan to enter the 1966 C2 in the Lone Star Regional in Frisco in October. It's nice; yet, I'm sure it's a far cry from what you NCRS purists have. I'll wait and see how she fares. In any event, I'm not familiar with the terminology "Sportsman"; what does it mean? Rather than clog up the NCRS Forum, can someone tell me what I can read ahead of October to get the ball rolling as to the process of entering the vehicle in either: (1) NCRS Judging; or (2) Sportsman Class. Many thanks.

Brothers: Ok, now onto Car Show number three - NCRS Lone Star Regional AKA "the bigs." Any guidance on when to arrive in Frisco; what to bring along; how to act vis-a-vis the NCRS Judges, etc.? Right now, I just plan to get up there Wednesday late afternoon, bring the Vette, and have a laid back and positive attitude. Any other guidance apprciated. Best, Ned

              Ned,
You hit the nail on the head...this is all you need to do. If you abide by your own quidelines, you will have a great time, meet some great folks, and see some amazing cars. By arriving Wednesday afternoon, your car will be nice and cool for the OPs part of judging. The very first test in OPs is cold start and idle. Best of luck and, hopefully, I'll get to meet you.

Ned - Attached is a document that I started a few years ago that addresses many of the questions you have (and probably some you don't know you have!). I update it each year and send it out to those registered for the event. There are references to this and other documents posted to the Chapter website: www.ncrstexas.org. I'm in the process of getting those posted so give me a few more days to get that done (schedule of events, site maps, logistical information). Thanks, Tim

Be forewarned, almost everyone that will look at your car either had one like it or has a brother that has one or a neighbor or X wife, take their comments with a smile and do not get too involved. You may also encounter a few that are eager to point out all the issues real and otherwise that they feel you need to be aware of. Ignore them. Have fun and try to look at the other cars.

If you are going to have your Vette judged, find out the local rules. Even if it is 90 degrees they may require the top to be up and windows rolled to the halfway position, also hood and trunk open. I generally bring a can of wax along however, never get much time to use it since everybody is telling is telling me they had a car just like mine 40 years ago.

Yes, and they all had to sell their Vette when they got married or had their first baby on the way. All I can tell them is I didn't have to sell mine for any reason since buying it new in 1963. Guess I was lucky to find a wife who knew well enough how much the car meant - sort of a member of the family (your first baby), and you don't sell or give away your babies.

                          Ed,
Watch the guys who try to park you too close to the next car / door slam , I always try and get two door widths away from the next car.
As said before get a fold out chair some old car mags sit back and enjoy, warning if you leave your hood up the guy with the metal zip on his hoody will try and lean over to see something and will touch his zip on your car, then when you make eye contact will say Oops sorry, have fun - Keith

Sorry I couldn't answer sooner. Once you get to Frisco Wednesday you can leave your car on the trailer and cold start from there on Thursday when we start ops, or you can off load it and park it in the lot next to the trailer for ops the next day. If you have an enclosed trailer of course that will be better at keeping the car clean. Either way we have security starting at 6 PM Wednesday so your car & trailer will be safe. Bring some quick detailer and a duster to spruce up your car once it is in the building. The spaces in the building a plenty wide enough so y don't have to worry about nicks and dings. Enjoy the show be nice to the judges--if I am judging a nice crisp $50 under the seat works well!--Just kidding, but I think and hope you will find everyone helpful and friendly. Come and enjoy,

                            Bob

We both do interiors now, that's why I dropped it to a 50.
