Just had wiper motor on my 66 rebuilt by steve hackle . I have installed it and check all ground wires from the starter to the heater to the wiper motor. I have continuity thru all of them. Problem is I turn wipers on with dash switch and I have high speed and low speed but will not park when I turn switch to the off position they continue to run in low speed. I can shut them off and park them using the ignition key. Could it be a bad switch and if so any way to check it?

Re: Wiper Motor will not shut off
Jay,
The motor transmission will not park. Your switch is OK if you have high and low speed. Probably the spring that allows the arm to fall into the gear and park is broken or came loose.

Apparently wiper motors are ground that angels fear to tread on around here. I am working through an issue myself on my 63 wiper motor. On a tip from one of my chapter members last Saturday (thanks Dallas), I was made aware of YouTube Videos posted by Willcox Corvette on the subject of wiper motor troubleshooting. I've been able to sort through my problem thanks to these videos and my shop manual. I plan to expand on my solution back in a thread I started a few days ago.
Perhaps you can find some help here as well...
If I were you though, I would start with a phone call to the person who restored your motor. Diving right into it may void any kind of an warranty provided with the rebuild.

Re: Wiper Motor will not shut off
I posted this once before, but it might help. I rebuilt my 67 & 63 wiper motors at the same time. I failed the bench test as it was not all that easy to figure out using the manual. So I decided to install each one to my 67 body that was off the frame. There were only wires hanging as the whole dash was out of the car. Grounded the wiper motor properly and grabbed the switch and plugged the wires into it.
It didn't have both speeds and I thought that all that work was gone. Took the 63 wiper motor and put it in and it did the same thing.
THEN I got a bit damp from all the work and grabbed the switch and got a 12 volt jolt as I became a ground. I grounded the switch and bingo, got both speeds and park. Installed the other wiper motor and it also worked. My problem was that the wiper switch needed to be grounded.

Re: Wiper Motor will not shut off
The ground that Domenic speaks of is the same wire that grounds the heater motor. It continues along to pick up the wiper too. It originates from the ground terminal at the starter outer mounting bolt. These terminals have a history of becoming brittle and corrosion infested from winter climates.- Top

Re: Wiper Motor will not shut off
Gene,
That wire which is usually grounded to the starter mounting bolt sometimes finds it's way to the positive terminal of the starter when people change the starter or restore their Corvette.
Your symptoms will be a battery going dead every few days and some strange happenings with the WW motor and the Heater Motor.
Everybody beware as this has been discussed several times in the archives.

Re: Wiper Motor will not shut off
Is it possible that the wiper motor should work on low and high when the wiper switch has a ground in those positions, but should normally park when it loses the ground in the off position, and yours perhaps is not?
I've bench tested many 70's wiper motors, and removing a certain ground is the only way I've been able to get them to park on the bench. This sounds similar to you being able to park yours when you turn the ignition switch off, but not with the wiper off switch itself.
I honestly don't know, and will be happy to be corrected, but am offering a possible solution based on my experiences, on a bench with a C3 motor, at least.
Good luck.- Top

Re: Wiper Motor will not shut off
1. If the WW Motor has no ground it will not work at all!
2. If the switch is not grounded to the cluster or elsewhere it will not turn the WW Motor ON!
3. Steve Hackel is the BEST WW Motor rebuilder in the business!
4. That's why I believe something mechanical is wrong with the WW Motor.
5. Hackel guarantees his work 100%!

Re: Wiper Motor will not shut off
Ok the wipers are working and they park. I was not concern with the motor but more with ground wires and the switch. It looks as if the switch was not ground properly or wasn't making contact but everything is working now.- Top

Re: Wiper Motor will not shut off
It sounds like your problem is solved, but wanted to let you know that I had the same problem with my 65 after I had the motor rebuilt by one of the vendors that advertises in Driveline. I called the vendor, and they were very apologetic and had me send it back. They seemed to know right away what the problem was (unfortunately I don't recall what it was) and they expedited the repair. I have had no more problems with it. If you continue to have problems with it I would contact the vendor.- Top
