Thanks Russ - do you know if they are Kelsey or Coker or some other Distributor?

I obviously got confused. I just got off the phone with John - owner of Kelsey Tire if it says Polyester it has to be

I thought the same thing as you but was disappointed to find out they are not really Polyester
Polyester is not a brand. It is a tire cord material, and the cord material and number of plys must be molded into the sidewall per DOT regulations.

I believe a bias ply tire mold can be used build a tire with either rayon, polyester, or nylon cord, except the material placard would have to be changed to reflect the type of cord material.

No, I don't. I have had them for about four-five years I think Kelsey does Goodyears tires and Kelsey has Firestone.

Added picture of sidewall, I also have a set of 6.70X15 Coker BFG Silvertowns that are the same polyester construction.

Yes, were it not for that requirement I would think that they would manufacture all the tires using polyester cord material. I would expect the only reason they use nylon cord material is because folks want the original sidewall saying nylon cord and the only way they can do that is to actually use nylon cord.

There Russ; I corrected it for you.

When John Kelsey first was first working on the F-70 15 Goodyears for the early C3s I was NTL and he and I had this discussion.
John: "Does the sidewall have to say 'Nylon Cord'?"
Me: "Yes, if you want the tire to get full credit."
John: "Then it will have to be made of nylon."
              Me: "And your problem is?"

There it is. If you don't like flat spots buy another tire to drive on. We all remember the "old days" with fond nostalgia; but we too soon forget reality.

Thanks Terry. I hadn't realized the mistake.

Re: Any Nylon tires with no flat spot issues?

i found that if you use the rolling tire jacks under each wheel, it will keep the flat spotting down to a minimal.
I think that because the tire jacks are rounded/cupped shape, it helps to keep the tire in its "normal" shape.

I have used them for years and it helps my cars a lot. The benefit is really noticeable during cold months.
And if there is a flat spot, its gone in 5 minutes anyways....
