    What are these switches?

Picture is of switches that came off my 66 coupe. These were mounted in the lower hinge pockets in about the same position as the courtesy light switches in the upper hinge pockets. What you see in the picture is all there was. No wiring or anything else. The back end of the switch is a clear plastic type tip.

A friend suggested they were remnants of an old alarm system.

    Thanks,

    Don

Don - That would be my guess too, that they are just left over remnants from an old alarm system. Did you happen to find any obsolete holes drilled into the inner wheel wells?

These look like the switches that were used for the "door ajar" light for 68-72 Corvettes----GM #3929804. They were also used for the optional alarm system. In your case, I expect these were part of an "over-the-counter" alarm system, either GM or otherwise.

        Re: What are these switches?

As I was stripping the driver side fender I found the patch for what must have been an alarm key on/off switch

Here's a pic of a 66 Coupe I used to own. Notice the prominent alarm key-switch located above the fender flags.

The patch I found today was just above the gills. Nice round patch.

              Don,
Those originally were interior lite switches that mounted in the door. The ones that the door hinge contacts to turn the interior lights out.
