67 Steel Cups in leaf spring & trailing arms

According to the 67 judging manual the shallower carry-over 1966 cups were observed on early 67's. My car was built on 12/29/66 and does have the shallow cups.

Does anyone else know of examples of shallow cups being used thru the end of 1966?

    Thanks

    Steve,

In my research the latest '67 I've found with the shallow lip on the cups is a car with a build date of Dec 27, 1966. I have 9 other '67s in my database that the early, shallow lip cups, spread out over the Sept - Dec 1966 period.

    What's prompting your question?

I believe that my car is untouched. I have a crack in the main leaf of the spring and while investigating correct parts for repair I discovered the supposed cut off date for the cups.

I plan on using the shallow cups as that is what I removed and believe to be correct for my car.

        Steve,

I'll add your car to my database. Are the cups in your T-arms also the shallow style?

My '67 5818 early December 1966 build rear spring has the shallow cups. If you need replacement cups, Gary Beaupre has them. http://garybeaupre.home.comcast.net/...e/Welcome.html

              Steve,

Is the build date you list based on the trim tag? And the production date from the dealer report one can get from the NCRS?

                Kurt,

LIC now sells the shallow cups as well (they list them for '63-'66, which may confuse some owners of early '67s), which LIC says is similar to the original cup geometry. The problem is there are some rear springs that the LIC cups don't fit very well because of the ID of the hole in the main leaf, and/or the thickness of the main leaf. In particular, this can affect the fit and use of the LIC shallow cups in some repro springs. Other than trying the LIC cups, I don't know how to predict beforehand if they will work well or not.

The build date is confirmed by all my docs and the NCRS reports.
