        Robert,
Then just get what you really want, be it original aluminum, repops, or stay with the rally wheels. The cost should not be a factor unless it is out of reason. If wheels was detectable as an option points would be lost for missing aluminum. But it is not as other options are easy to detect if missing or added.

You ask: "Is it worth the huge price of a set of five originals?" only you can answer that question from the stand point of a hobbiest. My opinion (as hobbiest) repops for $2K is reasonable, originals at over $10 grand.....NO THANK YOU.

Well I pulled the trigger! Thanks to Steve, I found a oerfect restored set of 5 bolt ons that were restored years ago by Dave Cosner, but were never put on a car. They were not cheaap but the price was fair for these rare wheels restored by the best!

Robert, I am very happy for you. Please send me a picture of your car when the wheels are on it.

Robert--- It looks like you found the gold standard of bolt-on wheels. Congratulations! I pulled the trigger too, but on the America's Finest repros. I'm very happy about the way they look. 25 years after I bought this car, I finally took the body to an expert restorer recently where I will spend the rest of my money to have the body look as good as the wheels.

Thank you all for your support. I realized that it is cool whre they came from. Steve hooked me up with Gary and Ken Nabers. They have had these restored wheels over ten years. Both of them are great guys. It is a big deal but I will smile everytime I look at them. This is the craziest thing I have ever done since owning Corvettes going back to 1970! I will post photos when I get them on the car.
