FYI they are still being installed to this day. I took a photo of this one at the Engine Build plant in Wixom back in 2011.

Re: engine suffix code label fr bb 1970
One reason these labels were used so the employee could locate the engine need for the next car on the line for build. This type of labeling or marking on components was used in many areas Transmissions, Rear Axles, etc. He could locate what was needed by just looking at the large 2 or 3 letter code to find the correct engine. Other wise he would have to look at the small code stamped into the engine block. It was all about speed and ease of production.- Top

NCRS Site Cliff Notes:
Hold your cursor over the radio button above titled MEMBER SERVICES. Second from the bottom item is JUDGING SCORE SHEETS. Click there and the world of Corvette judging is at your fingertips (well your cursor anyway). The suffix label is in the MECHANICAL score sheets, right below the ROCKER COVERS.Terry- Top

Thanks so much Terry and great to see you at TX Regional.
BTW, and this is just my opinion, but whoever runs the technical side of this board needs to address the ability to upload pics. Way behind the times regarding data limits. This board is fantastic and the folks are great but it could be so much more helpful with more pics. I run two other boards, PhPbb, and host with Go Daddy. Data storage is getting cheaper all the time. Surely we can afford to up the capacity.- Top

Don,
the IT team has addressed the storage capacity, but not publicized it. I don't think there is a any longer a four photo limit. In the Test Forum a couple guys have uploaded a dozen or more images.
good to see you at Frisco.- Top

Re: engine suffix code label fr bb 1970
Don, what I was really referring to is the download limit regarding the file size. The limited size means that you have to convert all files to a much smaller file size in order to just try an upload. The limit should be increased to at least 5mb.
It's also useless and completely outdated to have pic setting at under 100kb. This does not allow good review of existing pics. I know enough to know that these are just settings on the back end admin side. If we need more space then they need to increase it.- Top

Good thoughts, but posting them here won't garner you much more than sympathetic posts like this one. Send a note to your regional director, see what happens!

I know that it has been discussed before, but I've forgotten and was wondering what material was used to attach the label to the valve cover?- Top
