Re: Spin On Oil Filter Conversion Kits
The high pressure oil pump was in the '61 when I bought it...the rebuild was done by the head of a South Carolina racing team in 2004 for a previous owner and he did a bang up job...the car runs like its a much bigger displacement engine. Lars rebuilt my '63 distributor two months back (he's pretty famous on the CF) and it cured my shaky tach and the sluggish acceleration in the car. He found all kinds of craziness with my setup, fixed all that and recurved things on his Sun machine - at those prices I don't see how he makes any money at it... Made a world of difference and my lil '63 250hp mill zips along just like its supposed to.
The rear end ratio in the '61 is a peg leg 3.70...the Tremec was a very nice upgrade as the car now has "legs" to get on the turnpike with the 'big boys' I can run 75-80 mph effortlessly and the swap gave me a little 'deeper' 1st gear so stop light takeoffs uphill don't involve so much drama.
I'll leave the '63s original Muncie alone I think - its got a nice ratio and 4th gear at highway speeds is tolerable...
