It looks like the auction is back, anyone know if the parking will be on the infield or the surrounding outside lots?

OK, I'm not seeing this on the site or in the brochure they sent this week. Do you have a link to the addition of an auction?

The only town that has opened it's arms to us has been Kissimmee, FL. Again they don't even know we're there or were there!

...I also loved it out in Springfield!!! I've got a collection of those road signs that they put out for us every year. The evening cruisin' was the best in Springfield too. They welcomed us, every other town seemed like they didn't want us there. Haven't been to a Bloomington Gold since 2006. Now that it's in Indy, looks like it may be a great venue. I may even go back myself!!!

I just got their flyer the other day.
The show will be at The Speedway and there is plenty of grass area if they choose to use it.
There is no mention of a auction.
          $20.00 per day admission.
$25.00 to drive 2 laps on the 500 Track (was free at the Goodguys event).
          Benchmark Judging for 1953 through 1972 $1300.00..................
And so on and so forth.

So this reference to an auction is in error, then? Did you mean to say the BG show is back?

1300.00 to get a Corvette Benchmarked? You have to be kidding. Are thy trying to turn this into a cash cow. This show will tank. SOO SAD

I went back today and looked at the brochure and there is no mention of the auction. I thought there it was listed on the website last week however, I was in error. I will call BG on Monday and get the parking and hotel details.

Just registered for Bloomington Gold Certification. Long trip from Miami, but it will be fun.

                    Re: Bloomington Gold

I Called BG this morning and spoke with a very nice lady, Gail. After registration for BG, Parking and Hotel I asked about the Auction and received the following response, "not at this time" when I asked further clarification I was told "probably not". It sounds like a nice venue however, the Auction would have been an attractive addition

I think this is a great move. I miss the old days at Bloomington but The Indy Speedway is a great location for a show.

                          Re: Bloomington Gold

Perhaps we are getting older, greyer, and, speaking personally, have enjoyed a few too many beers without running the 5 miles a day I used to run when I served. I've also noted that the "hot" cars of today are rice burners with whiney single exhaust ports, or whatever the hell those things are.

But two things come to mind.

Corvettes have always been expensive. I'm rebuilding a 1980...why? Because it was what was new when I was finally old enough to buy one. But no way I could afford it then. Today, pick nearly any part and you pay a fortune for it unless you know someone or are a really good swap meet shopper (not me). Kids today can't afford this hobby any more than I could when I was 18. And prices today are pretty high for a running example.

The other is the other side of the coin, which is you know the reaction people have when they see one of these cars. I don't do it for the reaction, but I do appreciate the shock and awe because I still feel that way myself about the cars I own. But that means you gotta get 'em out there. Show folks. Generate interest. The local NCCC club where I live makes it a habit to enter cars in every local parade. We also have "shows" at the local hospitals, so folks can come out and see rolling history. If you have a special car and it's parked because of it, I sure understand. I saw some rarest of the rare cars in a local collection just the other day (including a '71 with 4 miles on the odo, but several '70 ZR1's and such). OK, don't drive those. But get another driver and get it out there for folks to see and enjoy, and, well, hear and feel. Maybe someday a kid who can't afford it today might be able to tomorrow, and the wave goes on...

Like the man said, my $0.02.

                          Keep 'em flyin', Mark.

I am thinking of going to my first Bloomington Gold. Is there a hotel in Indianapolis that NCRS members will stay at? The Alexander looks good to me.

Would love to get into an older model Vette (C1 or C2), but most of us are priced out of that Market. ;0( I own a 71 C3 and can understand why younger folks might gravitate to the newer stuff. Priced well, and performance superior to most anything. Vettes are classic in their own right but still a poor mans Porsche!
