Early C3 driver inner fender

This is a driver side inner fender from an early C3. Note the slot circled in red. There is also a metal support riveted around the upper margin of the slot. This doesn't look correct for 69, or is it? If not, what year(s) is it from and what was the purpose of the slot? thanks

Not sure but maybe it is the bracket where the headlight dimmer switch petal connects. Looks like that is about the location where it is located on my 69.

I have seen this before but can't recall what year car. I have an original no hit 70 in the shop now that doesn't have it.

Alan, here is a bigger picture, showing the inner fender sitting up with the hood support mount on top. I am thinking this is a 74-79?

Now I see it and I'm still puzzled !
I really don't know very much about the later 70 cars, but it's later than 71 also.

Bingo Rodger. Checked my 73 and 74. It started in 73 with the urethane front bumper. The bumper support tube mounts to the frame through the inner slot.

Bingo Rodger. Checked my 73 and 74. It started in 73 with the urethane front bumper. The bumper support tube mounts to the frame through the inner slot.
