    63 front springs (finish ? )

getting ready to install my NEW 63 springs from LI Corvette they have a blackish finish on them. What would be the best thing to use for a finish and what is the actual finish for a 63 FI car.if its a natural finish should I cast blast them ? I don't want rust a couple of years from now ??? Thanks

Original is Natural and therefore rust. I used a good primer then a coat of stainless steel colored paint. Close but no cigar.

Clean off the black paint with lacquer thinner or a wire brush. Assuming you have a regular suspension you should have a lavender stripe from the bottom to the top about 1 to 1.5 inches wide. Then take and spray them with a Polyurthane flat clear. That keeps them from rusting.
      Good luck,

I'm with Joe. But some people leave them natural and coat them with an oil like WD 40 or Boeshield. It has to be recoated periodically.
