    Re: Technical Reports from Carlisle?

    Hi Joe,
I was there on Thursday and Friday.
The weather was pretty good compared to what it can be.
I found an interesting piece of literature that I haven't seen before.
It appears from the introduction in it that it was prepared for use at the dealerships' service departments.
Some interesting information, photos, and diagrams, dealing with the 71 CEC system that I hadn't seen before either. In addition, there are sections dealing with the PVC, AIR, CCS, and ECS systems. It seems to be in greater detail, and with more photos and diagrams, than what appears in the Chassis Service Manual.
I found a few original 70-72 parts that are becoming difficult to find too.
Carlisle isn't what it used to be, be it still beats a couple of days working!
    Regards,
    Alan

      Alan,

Great stuff!!! That reminds me of the great literature swaps we used to have at Cypress Gardens each January!! Those that are in charge in the Florida Chapter have been urged to start those again as there was much interest and some great literature was exchanged. I remember buying a complete set of "The Corvette Restorer" for what I would have paid for Vol I Number 1.
Last year I took three large boxes of "Restorers", "Drivelines", Corvette News, A Complete Set of "Corvette The Sensous American" and several other publications along with me but no literature swap meet ever materialized! Maybe in 2015????
Then maybe I'll just have all that literature at my tent!!

Why do you need a "literature swap" to sell that stuff? If you want to do it, just put it out at your space.

Sorry we had to miss this years show. My son had sold the 62 Fuelie he had and we had some Fuelie issues to resolve and then deliver the car upstate. He made a decision not to renew the lease on his garage so we had to get busy and move our stuff out before the end of this next week.

First time for me and I have to agree I spend all day Friday there. It seems like Ebay has forced prices threw the roof on hard to find parts. I also went to Bloomington Gold earlier this year and frankly think the selection and quality of parts were better. REAL NOS parts are a thing of the past at parts swaps. Add to it most of the vendor of new parts are forced to collect sale tax on purchases so that nearly offset the show discounts they offer. Its just too easy to now a days to buy things with a few clicks and have it sent directly to your home. Driving 9 hours to attend was something I might not do again.

The best part was able to put a face on the name Gary Ramadei and John Degregory. John had a line at his booth so I didn't get a chance to say hi but I did get a chance to meet Gary and his son. It was good to see some of the parts restorers and the quality of the work they perform, something you really can't tell from a online photo.

Maybe it's me but my take is the hobby is alive and well, bigger than ever and no way you could even cover half in one day, I went Friday.

Lots of neat stuff and the new Z-06 convertible is awesome, 640hp and 650 ftlbs torque, engineer said taking orders in mid September. Nice 1964 display and race car display.

                  Hi Alan,

It was really nice to see you where able to find this original Theory and Diagnosis Booklet! Even more so that someone besides me finds the CEC worth learning about. I REALLY appreciate that you are so willing to share your find and the obligation you feel to teach others with lesser knowledge (what good teachers do). The NCRS would be a much greater resource if all had this view, especially the TDB.

Now, as far as Carlisle. There were too many vendors complaining about low or no sales. Even more so that the crowds or participation was low according to these vendors!

The Delaware Valley Chapter NCRS Gallery Collection had a lot of foot traffic this year. Along with being another outstanding display of pristine previously awarded NCRS cars, with great owners! Thanks to those honorees that had their pride and joy displayed!

Yes this was my First time at this event. Found some colored fuses, correct trico wiper blade frame, and more 68 original parts! This is a must see event for the corvette hobbiest! Great Looking Corvettes Everywhere! For us 16 hour round trip drive, toll road fees,Hotel fees, Event tickets with parking passes these were some Very Expensive Parts! Most of the Vendors had overpriced parts to say the least. Ebay is still a better buy for your dollar when buying Parts. Spent all day Saturday in a Rain Coat. We had a Great time and Great Memories at this Event!

                      Hi Kevin,
                      Thanks for those kind words.
I'm not sure at all that I'm the person you described. Living with someone who's going back to meet the kids tomorrow for the 48th time has made me realize what it actually takes to teach.
I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts about the 72 LT-!, a/c car on display at the Gallery. Especially concerning the question of whether it was an LT-! first or an a/c car first. Or was there another sequence in it's build?
                      Regards,
                      Alan

                        Jeff,
At Carlisle one can touch and feel before buying. If the price is too high for you just move on. A general statement that prices are too high is just ridiculous. A general statement on prices about e bay would be just as ridiculous. I see priced items all over the map at both Carlisle as well as e bay. Both avenues are a shoppers delight just that you get wet at one and the other your finger gets tired............

Is there a rear visibility issue with the new Stingrays? I hope nothing/no one was damaged/injured.

The one thing that amazes me about the parts at Carlisle is I always find items I don't see on eBay or other online places. And you can always make an offer and usually get some off the asking price.
