    Re: Technical Reports from Carlisle?

We got in on Thursday about 5:00 pm and it promptly started to rain until the next morning. Rain on/off through Sat night, heavy on Saturday. I had a very good crowd at my Friday seminar and there was a lot interest among the group in learning tech info on boxes, arms, and diff's. Only problem was I ran out of time. Met a lot of guys at my space and had a chance finally look over the new vettes. I was impressed with them but still don't care for the lines on the rear of the coupes. I would like to drive a 7 speed though and see how they run.The crown was ok on Friday and I thought it was light, at least in the swap area, on Saturday. I haven't seen heavy walking traffic in several years though. ebay and a tough economy probably taking it's toll.

      Thanks for those kind words.
I'm not sure at all that I'm the person you described. Living with someone who's going back to meet the kids tomorrow for the 48th time has made me realize what it actually takes to teach.
I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts about the 72 LT-!, a/c car on display at the Gallery. Especially concerning the question of whether it was an LT-! first or an a/c car first. Or was there another sequence in it's build?
      Regards,
      Alan
      Alan,
48 years teaching deserves a hero award. There has to be a love of the students in there. My best regards to a person with that kind of fortitude.

        Re: Technical Reports from Carlisle?

I've been to Carlisle every year since 1990, so perhaps I'm a little jaded to it. Yup early C-3 parts are not plentiful anymore. Kind of irks me that the admission price goes up almost every year, (I know, what doesn't!) A lot of the swap meet sellers don't go any more. I don't see anywhere near the number of people hauling out treasures that they found. I only have time to go to one road trip event per year, so I think I'm done with Carlisle, time to check out one of the other events. Kind of wish I planned on the museum bash or national convention instead! Enjoyed Appalachian Brewing Company and Victory Brewing though!

All the above is true and some just contain personal accounts of their experience at Carlisle.
If all the above applies, then why has the NCRS Florida Chapter grown each year and are now looking and found a terrific space for the Florida Regional. A space where they can expand the number of swap spaces and facilities for the enjoyment of the NCRS group. Yes, they turn away vendors each year. Gate fees, well there isn't any gate fees for visitors.
Anyone seeing a trend here? And no it is not altogether the great weather and thaw out for yankees that drives the NCRS Florida Regional.

            Hi Alan,

Well, they say "Behind every great man, stands a great woman"! Yes, you are that man.

Oh, remember those "First Day of School" clothes?

Now that "K" car LT-1 is a neat piece of history. Certainly, one that will continue a life in defense. Those that judged and awarded it the American Heritage had more time than I did, I would like to have had more. There are several articles and history dating back a long way, along with a couple older NCRS members that knew of it and it's previous owners. Me, I'm a sceptic and didn't see any conclusive evidence that this example was THE one? The owner was gracious and did allow me to look over his documents, but without enough time I wasn't able to say beyond doubt. Surely, others can reinforce it being genuine?

It was originally supposed to have been base motor Bryar Blue A/C early Sept 71, w/ a change hand written on the build sheet, along with several other notes I couldn't make out. It came out War Bonnet, w/ an LT-1 (cast Aug. 6th 71)motor with A/C, AND the correct vin derivative on the engine stamp pad.. Again, I didn't have the ability to look under it......

Perhaps, we should start another thread as this topic relates but different than the OP question?

            To be cont.

Trust me Kevin; it is the real deal. I was 1970-72 NTL when we judged it and 10 other LT1s at the National Convention in Lancaster PA. There was a story in a Restorer from back when that had better images of the "tank sheet" from back when. I'll post the Restorer reference from home tonight for those of us who save those things.

                  Gary,

Thank you for conducting the seminar and for sharing your wealth of information. I attended your Friday seminar and it was time well spent. I learned a lot, although unfortunately I had trouble hearing everything you said, even though I was standing at the front row, because of the annoying distraction of the PA system that seemed to be blaring directly into building R. Of course, the same problem applied to all seminars in Bldg. R. I will offer a suggestion to the organizers and maybe they will fix that problem for next year.

                  Thanks again.

                  Jim

Jim.... Thank you for the feedback as I have a different perspective standing up front. I don't want to hijack Joe's thread so I will start another on feedback and requests.

Gene like I said " When you add up the travel expensive and add them to the part prices you are at the Over Priced Rate". Try Restroring a corvette in todays market. Always one wise guy in the crowd!! I'm still doing All the work Myselfs so no labor charges to date. Maybe when i get Gray this will change. NOT!!
