      Gary,

I hope you don't misunderstand but are you saying the car still has the entire chassis undercoated? Of so I'm not sure how you were able to receive a net 97%?

Silver is nothing to sneeze about! Yes, folks do put the silver sticker on their cars!

I suppose the NCRS Judging manual plays a big part, as Bloomington you walk in "blind".

I notice you snapped a picture of the fine Doctors derriere!

The way I understand it is Bloomington judging is for as the cars left the assembly line and NCRS judging is for after dealer prep and as they sat on the dealer lot. Could this explain why you took such a big hit for the undercoating at Bloomington?

          Greg -

Shouldn't matter - under either scenario (BG or NCRS), the car shouldn't have ANY undercoating beyond what's in the A.I.M.; dealer prep doesn't matter, as undercoating at dealer prep is an "..owner- or dealer-inspired addition", not part of standard dealer prep.

I know that some degree of undercoating was applied at the factory...which parts would actually show factory undercoating on a 1969? I see m to be finding info about the wheel wells, but have heard the the undercoating has been found on other conponents. What parts were on the car on the assembly line when the undercoating was installed?

On a seperate car in a seperate division, a very nice original Corvette was being judged when the chassis judged noticed the entire chassis, and many components, were undercated. The owner stated it was from the factory. I asked the owner, what option code is that? He replied he left the shipper copy at home. He went on to state it had to be from the factory because the car is an "untouched original." After that, I could not get that Madonna song out of my head.

The undercoating was applied to the wheelwells, nothing more. In fact, it was only applied to a portion of the wheelwells, and on original cars you can often see the demarcation quite plainly. As the undercoating was applied before the body and chassis were mated there should be none/zero/zip on the chassis or other parts.

Thanks for explaining that John. I really don't know a whole lot about how cars are judged at BG but at a glance it appears similar to the NCRS.

I left BG today headed towards Kansas City with my 69 loaded in a trailer and a silver certificate. This is not really what I expected based on my prior flight judging but regardless, wanted to take the opportunity to thank the 68 and 69 judges for their hard work as there were at least 10 cars to judge in the class. I know most of the judges also do NCRS events so figured this was a good forum to thank everyone for their service. I have become very familiar with my car over the past few years, but know only a fraction of what the judges can recite off the back of their hands.

See you all at the National.

Gary, congratulations on your award. You should be very proud of yourself. We will be posting your picture on our Florida NCRS Chapter newsletter. See you in Kansas!
