    Bloomington wrap up

I was busy with walking the swap meet on Friday and judging on Saturday, so didn't have too much time to walk around and take pics. Here are a few that I did get.

I left BG today headed towards Kansas City with my 69 loaded in a trailer and a silver certificate. This is not really what I expected based on my prior flight judging but regardless, wanted to take the opportunity to thank the 68 and 69 judges for their hard work as there were at least 10 cars to judge in the class. I know most of the judges also do NCRS events so figured this was a good forum to thank everyone for their service. I have become very familiar with my car over the past few years, but know only a fraction of what the judges can recite off the back of their hands.

See you all at the National.

Congratulations on your award. I can't believe the judge that is second from the left has shorts on. That is very unusual! Perhaps that is why you only got a silver award . . . ? Don H.

I actually took my mom along for the 1400 mile ride from Miami. She really enjoyed herself and tried to say hello to just about everyone. She seemed to be much more nervous about the judging process than I ever was, and if it were up to her I would have been cleaning fingerprints and dust off the car every time someone made a smudge. Now she understands why I have spent so much time working on my car over the past few years.

She bought an iphone recently and I showed her how to use the camera. She probably took 50 pics of the judges on my car and insisted on having all of us stand for a pic when they were finished. Much better than the disposable camera that was never wound..

Gary;Nice pictures. Just curious was the whole day rain free?? Glad to see most the Judges are still around from when I was at B/G in 2006. Enclosed is picture of them. Looks like they still got the same shorts on! Ha Ha--Larry

Hi Gary,Congratulations on getting a silver. Were you far off from your goal? I was wanting to ask you a bit about your car but you were busy adjusting your tie rod clamps and doing an interview with some Korean students? What was that about? Anyways we were just on our way out so I couldn't get back to you and didn't want to bother you while you were working. I just wanted to say that I really liked your 69, for me anyways it's a killer option and color combo!

They don't look all that bright, to me.

I know...it's always the same story. I get so stinking busy, I don't have time to turn around. The pics took a back seat.

Were you one of the judges Mark? I would have liked to talk for a bit seeing as you helped me out in the forum quite a bit years past on my 69. And I'm sure that the conversation would have eventually turned towards aviation and why yous pilots do the things youds do and why us mechs dus the thins weeds do. lol

They weren't. A couple of them couldn't figure out what cars to judge and kept swapping teams...

I lost 460 points. Loss had to be 411 or less for gold. I think total points were 7000 or 7500 but not really sure. I really took a big hit, much more than I ever imagines for being undercoated. Keeping my fingers crossed that I didn't just waste 5k and 2 weeks of my life trying for a duntov at the national. I am amazed that s 97% ncrs raw score at a major regional doesn't translate to a bloomington gold award. Does anyone put a bloomington silver sticker on their car?

Once upon a time, that would have been a kill=on-sight offense.
