Yes, reversal of the extend and retract hoses can also be a cause of the problem. However, I mentioned that in a previous post on the subject so I assumed that you had confirmed correct installation of the hoses.

        Wayne, Joe,

I just called the shop and he will check the hose configuration. Keep in mind there was something funky last year....occasionally when the car was started the steering wheel would zoom to the left, but then would steer ok. It could be that sitting dry for months...or a more powerful pump exacerbated an existing problem in the valve. Make sense?

In addition to the great advice given here, have you tried driving the car at all? I know that it may be impossible with the current symptoms, but a poster on the Corvette Forum is a retired engineer from the Saginaw steering division. He mentioned that the air in the system might take up to 10 miles of driving to get out of the system. I do, however, think that your control valve is out of adjustment. I rebuilt the control valve in my 72 two weeks ago and I had to adjust it twice to get it right. Now, after an 800+ mile drive, the steering to the right is more difficult and noticably harder so perhaps another balance may be needed.

                    Gary,

Very good; I certainly will check the adjustment after driving it a few miles.

                    Thanks
