Let me summarize all of these messages to make sure I understand you all correctly.

Carburetor for 396/425:
Hollet 3124, identifiable by the small size of the nuts where the fuel lines enter the fuel bowl.

Gasket:
Originally, it was GM #3868827, but it was discontinued years ago. Easily available in reproduction, though, and you should be able to find one in any good auto parts store, too.

That's pretty much it. However, the Holley 3140 that I spoke of is configured exactly like the 3124, except for "numbers". So, the configuration of the fuel bowls is not a feature totally unique to the 3124. However, the 3130 is probably scarcer than the 3124 so it's unlikely that you'll run across one and mistakenly purchase it. The 3124 and the 3130 are the only two carbs that are configured alike.
