Re: 54 heater pics
Damn your fast Roy, just below the #5 paint mark? on yor heater on top face toward dash mine has 1/4 hole at top and 3/4 under that some kind of swivel arm, I see nothing on your's. If that doesn't go their can I snip it off and plug the hole(s) and be okay? Thanks Brad.- Top

Re: 54 heater pics
That hole is original , if you plug the hole something awful will happen ( Ha! I don't know what) the swivel arm you mentioned I don't know what that would be, only near the two outlets is a bracket to hold the hot wire connection and a bracket for the heater cable .- Top

Re: 54 heater pics
Ok now about taking the heater out, will there be any water and atifreeze slopping onto the carpet? Am going to take it apart and check the motor and squirrel cage, does motor unscrew from back of housing and is there anything I can mess up by pulling these two pieces apart, what must I look for when I'm in their, also heater switch checked out ok so must have a look, who can rebuild these in the wash. State area, any one else jump in and give me an idea? Thanks Brad. Ohhhh, who is that guy that builds the shieldings for the 54s, car is near judging now hope to be in Bend Oregon in Sept, what is procedure?- Top

Re: 54 heater pics
(Any one else jump in and give me an idea?) What ! It's you and me buddy.
Here we go= disconnect the heater hoes and blow into one to remove water from the heater radiator .
Remove two nuts and two lower screws firewall
Under dash remove heater switch cable and hot lead
The just pull the heater out
Remove 5? Screws at back of heater and pull motor and squirrel cage out
The squirrel cage is pressed on the heater shaft remove it or little screw
Two nuts hold the motor to the plate remove them and pull motor off plate
Who rebuilds the motor?
Corvette has only ONE (brown) hot wire ,Car or replacements have TWO
PS if the motor runs but so so or noisy drill a small hole near it's end to add oil.
Some one els will tell you where to get the shielding . Good luck- Top
