67 C-2 bell housing

When cleaning my bellhousing I noted a "3" in black on the passenger side, midway back and half way up. Pretty much in the center. The number "3" is about 2 or 3 inches tall. Is this something that was there from the factory or should I clean it off? Thank you Dale

Ok Mike, I will retain it. It happens to be on a clean spot. I wonder if anyone else has seen this.Dale

Dale - I agree with Mike, keep it. While I haven't seen a "3" specifically, it appears it was common practice to to mark "info" such as the engine code on bell housings. Pete
