Hi , Can someone tell me what 10W30 SE CC motor oil would be used for. I know this is not directly a Corvette question but I'm sure there is someone here who can help. Thanks in advance, Bill

Re: Motor Oil
Bill-----
"SE" was an API oil rating used for gasoline powered engines built from ABOUT 1972 to ABOUT 1978 or 79. "CC" is, in this case, a secondary diesel engine oil rating from about the same period. 10W-30 was probably the most widely manufacturer recommended engine oil viscosity rating of the 70's and continuing right to this day (although 5W-30 has pretty much taken over for most GM cars).
So, this oil is from the pre- ABOUT 1979 era. Technically, it should not be used in later model vehicles. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
