    what Q-Jet specs to use...

I have a 7029207 service replacement carb dated early 74 that I will be using on my 69 L36 until I find the correct 7029204 carb. I picked up a carb kit for the 207 carb and noticed that some of the adjustments between the two carbs are different, float level being one of them. So, should I use the specs for the 207 carb or seeing as it will be used on my 69 L36 and the 207 carb does replace the 204 carb, should I use the 204 adjustment specs on this 207 carb or stay with the 207 specs?

    Thanks,

    Greg Linton

the 7029204 is a 396/427 carb and the 7029207 is a 350 carb so the jetting is different. the 204 carb jetting is #71 jets and #47 metering rod pri and the secondary rod is a AX. the 207 carb jetting is #66 jet and #36 pri rod with a BG secondary rod. set the float level for the 204 carb

      Greg,

      Wouldn't that be a 7029215 you should be looking for for a '69 L36?

Check this out. Great info and," how to", on the Q-jets. Has a list of q-jet numbers to rod/ jet size, and a ton of other info. One of the better reads

Well either I'm getting smarter or it was just dumb a$$ luck because I did set the float to the 204 spec...just started to question myself though. Clem, would I notice any real difference if I replaced the 207 jets with some 204 size jets and rods?

David the 7029204 is for 1969 L36 cars with automatic transmission and the 7029215 that you mentioned is for those with a manual transmission.

Great link Dennis...something else for my personal archives!!

the jetting may be for emissions more than difference in running. try it and see how it runs first and if it does not seem right change the jetting and rods.
