I have a 1964 FI Coupe Vin 13708 which has some of its original carpet and all of its original 'padding' underlayment. This consists of a thick black press formed cardboard material with a jute type material under it. The few original pieces of carpet left do not have the 'grey foam' backing but just a thin grey smooth material which the carpet is attached. This is my 3rd 64 Coupe and all have had this same configuration. One was a nice one owner car, never 'restored' which was great to learn from. The JM says no 'jute' backing was used in 63/64. My 1963 Coupe did not have this configuration which still had its original carpet etc. The 64 underlayment is molded in the front areas and the rear including the wheel wells. I've looked at many archive threads and believe 64 convertibles had the 'grey foam' backing but the Coupes I believe are the configuration I've run into. Not sure about very early 64 Coupes. Can any 64 Coupe owners confirm this carpet and underlay so we can hopefully include this in the JM.
Thanks, Dan
