Per the NCRS judging guide the washer pump for 1968 is supposed to be white. The one in my car is black. I looked through Dr. Rebuild's catalog (page 63)and they show a 68-73 pump as being black (although they do sell a white repair kit, not including the pump cover). Can anyone help with what I need & where I can get it? Thanks!

The GM/Delco SERVICE parts have been black for MANY years. I don't know if the "white" versions, as original, are being reproduced now, or not. I don't recall having seen them.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

1968 Wiper Pump
Mark,
The part that I believe you are referring to is set on top of the pump and has 3 hoses attaching into it, one intake from the water bottle and two out to the windshield. I had the same problem with the black pump and then went with the white in a rebuild kit. If you are not having the car judged white would be correct. However if you are having the car judged, it should be yellow with age. I bought my yellow one at Eastern Corvettes. Contact Steve or Mike at http://www.easterncorvettes.com Hope this helps.Terry Buchanan

Re: 1968 Wiper Pump
Terry-----
The original pumping units were completely "white", including both the piston/cylinder assembly and the valve assembly (i.e. the top part with the hose nipples). It's not too hard to find a "white" valve assembly. They're for sale on eBay all the time and you can even get them in the Dorman/Help! section of auto supply stores. While these valve assemblies are "white", they can be rather easily discerned from original valve assemblies.
Finding the piston/cylinder assembly in "white" is another matter. That's the part that I was mainly referring to in my last post. Of course, one can put a "white" valve assembly on a later black piston/cylinder assembly, but that's not going to create a "correct" unit that will pass judging scrutiny. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
