Were both the bypass and heater hose fittings installed prior to engine paint and receive some degree of overspray?

The bypass nipple on the waterpump was installed at Flint and may show some orange overspray. The heater hose nipple was installed at St. Louis and, consequently, should have no paint, at all.

Tom, just look in your copy of the AIM. If you see the pump nipple called out for assy at the St. Louis plant, then it wasn't with the engine when it was built in Flint/Tonawanda and therefore didn't get painted Chevy orange UNLESS there was some touch-up paint work done...
