    '66 A/C

I am working on a '66 390hp with A/C, just went to put the hood release cable in and noticed in the AIM that there should be a plate with weld nuts riveted to the metal support bar (birdcage) to mount the hood release inboard. This car dosen't have the mounting plate. Car is documented to have A/C, everything else A/C wise is OK. Did they ever put that mounting plate in the car? Should I put one in it? Says nothing about the mounting plate in the JM. Car is going to be judged. What should I do?

    Thanks

    Jeremy,

I can't give you an answer re the judging aspect but I am not sure the nut plate was ever riveted to the crossbar. The AIM C60 A4 shows a rivet but I don't recall seeing a rivet hole when I replaced mine in my 66 AC car. If you are missing the mounting plate it is available from LIC.

The hood release on my '66 small block AC car, bolts directly to the crossbar. No plate or sign of one.

        Ronnie,

You just cant see it. The cross bar or brace has 2 clearance holes in it for the hood release bracket. There is a plate with 2 nuts welded to it that lays on the lower lip of the crossbar. The bolts pass thru the clearance holes and engage the nuts on the nut plate. If you have an AIM see C60 A4

Jeremy's question is is the nut plate riveted to the brace, as shown in the AIM, or does it just lay there.

26455 and 15718 were both riveted in.

            Isn't curiosity a terrable thing...

I took my release bracket off and Randy is correct in all aspects. As to Jeremy's question, my (#147...) plate holding the nuts IS riveted on with a single rivet in the center (See photo).
If your not extremely careful, you will learn something every day!
            Thanks
