    Re: B&H bolts

    John

I have two unrestored 57 FI engines w/unrestored fuel filter assemblies and B&H bolts. One of the four bolts was drilled..probably to be wired for racing.

I also have another original assembly with original B&H bolts which I had reconditioned and re-plated that now look brand new. ( By the way..that assembly was given to me recently by Larry who owned the Muscle car and part collection in Wisconsin ).

The prices people pay sometimes seem very high..but as you know ( like yourself ) some guys really care about getting it right and original..even at an over the top price ( points aside ).

Also.. would you pay $400 for 2 original bolts if they were the crowning touch to a $100,000 + gem. Maybe!

I remember selling the four rear bumper bolts ( I think ) from a 62 years ago for $2 each that a guy had to have and I thought that was crazy.

    Its a new day.

            Re: Plated B&H Bolts

Joe, Nice bolts for sure. They sure make the restoration complete. The repros used to come with one ugly bolt. If someone wants to be frugal as long as they used a nice looking recessed head bolt with lock washer and cad plate it the job is at least presentable. Doubt if the ding is more than one on the judging floor. Saw the new repros and see that someone missed an operation when making them. There was one on ebay this week and I just shook my head. It's missing the groove around the bottom of the canister about 5/8" up from the bottom (without measuring) I hear it's also missing the weep hole on the bottom. Just one more minute of work and the part could have at least appeared original. Loved the old repros and was sad when my friend Don Trivett passed away as he made them for many years. Own gang is slowly passing on and lately too many are going. John
