Re: one of my new mid years had a short belt

I am rather a new member to the NCRS, I have been a member for only five years. One of things that I have to disagree with is not using the JG manuals as the standard for judging or restoring. Many of the old members (Years in NCRS not age) have knowledge that us new members could only dream of having. When I judge a Corvette I try and interpret the JG and make the best educated call that I can, but if the JG is incorrect the Corvette (by being restored incorrectly) and the owner suffer. I also inform the owner in post judging conference not to change a thing until he/she is sure that it is not correct and this is only my interpretation of the part or parts. I also tell them to keep the old part until they are absolutely sure that it never came from the factory with this part. I feel that the NCRS needs to take every effort to insure that the JG are as correct as possible and that a quick and simple system is in place to review questions, additions and deletions to the JG manual.
