    69 strike

This is my first post so please bear with me. I am in the process of restoring a 69 L-36 4 speed coupe. My motor was built March 24 ( pre strike) and my car was built June 18 (post strike). My question is regarding the 7029215 Q-Jet. Would a January date be too early? I think it would be about right if the strike hadn't happened. I was just wondering if St. Louis continued to get parts while the strike was going on possibly making the Jan. date a little early. I know tis is covered somewhere in th archives but I can't find it.Thanks for any help.

    Brad------

A January carb date would "work" for a June-built car under NCRS and NCCB judging standards. So, there's no need to make it more complicated than that. Under any circumstances, it would be possible for a January-manufacured carb to wind up on a June built car. That's why NCRS and NCCB have the "6 month rule". In your case, it probably more likely that a June-built car would have originally been fitted with a January-manufactured carb.

            Rob,

Take a look at them. They will probably have some identifying features. I expect you will either find a part number on them like 3989829 and/or 3994055 (front large bracket) and/or a symbol like a "U" or "C with an M" in the middle. You may also see a 1/8 inch hole drilled in the front bracket depending on the bracket.

On the rear bracket, tell me if it is straight or bent or if any of the corners have been nipped off. Hard to discribe but the corners could be sort of cut off.

Close up pictures would be great! Thanks a bunch, Terry

                First photo of front bracket

No number found on the front bracket. The rear is really so well build-in that it is impossible to study and photograph it as long as the engine is fitted with the radio shielding...

                greetings,
                Rob.

Terry, I have 2 front brackets 1 came with the car and 1 is off a 69 396. The one that came with the car does not hahe any markings and has a hole alittle less than a quarter Towards the rear. The one off the 396 has 3969829 on the back side and an 1/8'' hole toward the front.
