got a non-ZR1 c-4 front suspension under the 41 willys pickup. need stiffer front spring that will lift the front end about 2" higher than the current used c-4 spring . any thoughts. it'll be an autox Willys so i'm not too, if any, concerned with ride quality. thanks, mike

Re: c-4 question--front spring
Mike;
Z-51 spring will give same ride height as standard spring with much harsher jounce rate. The 1984 Z51 spring, in particular, has a much higher rate than the 85/88 Z51 spring. Have you considered keeping the standard spring with spacers?

Re: c-4 question--front spring
Mike,
I'm not sure what spring rate you're looking for, but AFAIK, the Z51 spring will give the same ride height as the standard spring. With that in mind, I see no other way to increase the front ride height, other than with spacers, unless you change to a non Corvette spring.
I am not sure whether the ZR1 spring will work for you, either, because I don't know the weight differential between the LT5 and the L98. The all aluminum alloy Merc engine has larger heads than the iron L98, so the weight diff is probably minimal.

Re: c-4 question--front spring
thanks joe and clup. think i can put a spacer between spring and front x-member. will also check and see if the 84 Z-51 spring is still available from GM . stiffer spring will be beneficial for Willy's autox future. thanks again, mike- Top
