Check your copy of the Assembly Instruction Manual. You ought to find a drawing in the engine section depicting all the possible pulley and belt combinations for the various car configurations (SB vs. BB, with A/C, with PS, Etc.).

It's the same for the 435 cars as the others...

It's a cast iron, two groove pulley.

      I don't have the part number here, but I have a 435 1968, 4spd, No A/C car
      with PS.

It's the same pulley as my 67 390hp/ PS car

        Steve------

You're referring to the CRANK pulley; the waterpump pulley was never made of cast iron for this or any other application.

          Jack and Jonathan-----

I don't think that you'll find definitive information on this one in the AIM. I believe that early 1968 with 427 may have used 2 pullies sandwiched togther. These may have been GM #3848904, a 2 groove rear pulley also used on some small blocks in combination with a single groove GM #3883235 front pulley, also used on many small blocks.

Later 1968 used a 3 groove pulley of GM #3889372. I don't know when the change was made and/or if there were actually any of the early configuration actually assembled.

The early, sandwiched configuration involved pullies that were larger in OD than the later 3 groove pulley. I believe the smaller diameter, 3 groove pulley was used in order to increase fan speed and resultant cooling.

            Hi Joe,

Sorry, I had Power Steering pullies on my mind I think. The WATER PUMP pulley
for the 427 435 is a THREE groove pulley, They are RARE (Pressed steel)you can
get them from Paragon as a GM Restoration part or now and then on Ebay. The last one I saw go on Ebay was about 240.00 The GM retoration part from Paragon is 200.00 I think. I believe (from memory) the pulley part number ends in a 721?

              From Paragon,

item number 1762, states it includes the original GM part number "3889372 BF".
              200.00

              Cheers,

Yes, as I mentioned in my post in response to another in this thread, the GM #3889372 waterpump pulley was used for "later" 1968 big block applications (except L-88). This pulley is a 3 groove pulley of 5-1/2" OD. It was used for most 1968-70 Corvette BB application and was replaced in the mid 70's by GM #3995644. The latter is a similar pulley and 100% functional for the applications. However, it is configured a little bit differently than the 3889372.

Joe you occasionally you will see the two piece pulley on a 68 or 69 on the judging field. Not real common
