    Heater Box Sealant on Firewall

For restoration, what type of sealant is used on the heater box after the heater box is mounted on the firewall? The 65 judging manual says a "spray on heavy rubber-like sealant is seen along the top and sides. This is a leaker fix for the heater box". Thanks, Floyd

Floyd, I just replaced the heater core in my 66 and I was discussing this on another post here. The author of that post, Carl, said that he had used rustproofing spray. I would guess that spraying some into a container, then dripping/painting it onto the subject surface would give an appropriate appearance. I haven't done this part yet, although the core is in, the car is back together and it runs well. Gary

Gary, Thanks for your reply, I will try to find some rust proofing spray???? and give it a try. I will let you know how it looks. Glad to hear you got your 66 running, one of these "years" I hope to have mine on the road again after this total frame off restoration. Thanks again, Floyd
