    GM #7041200 was originally used for 1971 big blocks with automatic transmissions installed in passenger cars, Chevelles, and Camaros. It was not used for Corvettes, though. It is possible that it was manufactured by Carter as many Q-Jets were during this period. If it was, however, that fact will be clearly indicated on the side of the float bowl.

        C1 = March, first week
        FA = broadcast code. We aren't yet sure how this fits in or what they mean. The 704XXXX number is much more "important" in your case.

            the carter built Q jets that were built for GM OE

            had the GM numbering system BUT the carter built Q jets for aftermarket auto parts used a carter 4 digit type number. the ones built for GM say "rochester quadrajet by carter" on the side.

              I thought the carter carbs had a different #

              I thought the carter carbs used a part number derivative, has anyone else heard that? Like 7029207 becomes 29207?

                    The date code of C1 is an indicator of a Carter built Q-Jet. Carter used a letter for the month and a single digit for the year. Rochester used a Julian date code -- four numbers for the date.
