Pro Team Inspector needed

Any advice or leads on finding a reasonable, honest, knowledgeable person to inspect a car(s) at Pro-Team? Did I mention honest and reasonable? Pro-Team has people that they recommend but I think this is kind of like having the wolf watch the sheep...or some sort of analogy like that.

I would call Paul Lutz at Corvette Technicians in North Versailles PA. (412) 823-2833 I've know him for years and is a good guy. I spoke to him this morning and he said he charges 250.00 to run over there and do an inspection.

$250 is certainly a fair and reasonable price. I paid $300 to get an inspection on a car and felt like it was money well spent.

What I am asking for is someone to screen a car for me and give me their expert opinion on the car, if it passed this test then I would take the next step and fly out to see the car. It is much cheaper for me to hire someone to look at a car for me then to fly out from CA, rent a car, and get a hotel room. This way I get a second set of eyes and an expert opinion...and my own.

I am not looking to waste anyones time...they would be paid for their services. I am not in a rush to buy a car, I am just careful so I ask a lot of questions. The questions I ask are questions that I cannot look up in a book and this is the best way for me to learn, by speaking with you guys...the fellow owners. For which I am very thankful for!

Regarding guarantees, I do not know of anyone, Pro-Team or individual owner, that guarantees their car is legit.

Napolean is an easy 30 minute ride from the airport at Toledo, and about 45 minutes from most hotels near the airport. It is roughly 60 miles from Fort Wayne, 110 miles from Detroit, 150 miles from Dayton, and so on. So unless you find someone really near Toledo, it is going to be an all-day affair and probably a night at least.

Been there, done that. Flight schedules are not into there at all the convenient times, this is Toledo, not LAX. So I flew in the night before, drove to Pro Team, flew out that afternoon. Many you contact will do the same, or spend most of the day on the rode driving.

The second trip was a private flight, but we couldn't land at Napolean since their runway was too short. But it was still a decent day's work since it involved driving from Toledo to Napolean and back. Left here at 9:30 am, flew there, spend a couple of hours, flew back, got home at 6:30 pm.

Fun trip though.

if you want to spend big bucks for a corvette i would suggest you buy a new ZO-6 as it will be more fun that any used corvette you can buy,plus you get a guarantee that pro team does not give. i owned these midyears when they were new and they were great back in the 60s BUT i can not believe they could be more fun than a new ZO-6.i have a friend who has a 67 435 hp and he used $496 worth of gasoline on a trip to bowling green and my whole trip including rooms and meals did not cost that much. so much for history and of course i do not buy corvette for investments,i have a guy who invests my money in other forms. i only wish i had bought microsoft back then instead of those corvettes. if mrs clem would raise my allowance i would trade my 2005 C-6(best vette yet) for a new ZO-6(better yet) JMHO

Nope...I couldn't wait. I went down to the local classic car dealer and bought a '67 427/300 horse T-top coupe, it is white with blue lemans stripes and was previously owned by Carroll Shelby, according to the dealer Carroll signed the inside of the valve covers, I didn't look but I trust him. The interior is awesome, it has a benchseat, pistol-grip shifter, and it is a rare (but desireable) steering wheel delete car (code NO SW). All the options, including the Xenon headlamps and cruise control are original and documented on the VINNY tag (the dealer says that VIN is just short for VINNY) located in the differential. It also comes with a tank sticker, mine has a picture of a Sherman on it!

Hoochie Mama! That is the best $95K I ever spent!

agree with clem that the new ZO6 is the best, in terms of performance, Vette yet. would rather look at a c-1 or c-2 but when it comes time to git er done, i'll take the new LS7. KC Strawmeir dropped off his new ZO6 with NINE miles on the clock and told me to use it to set the autox course at the Cumberland airport this past weekend.myself and about 20 others, mostly Porsche owners, put about 30 miles on it and believe me, we treated it like a step child. it is beyond a doubt the quickest vette built yet. the car performed flawlessly.some of the Porsche guys will be changing brands.Might have to get a totaled ZO6 next summer (am sure there will be plenty of totaled ones considering the HP they generate) and build another autoxer. mike

Mike I live about 1/2 hour from Pro Team and have looked at many Corvettes their. I would drive any NCRS member from Toledo airport and give advise but take no pay as that is how to lose friends and get in law suits for little money.

ROFL. Lots of parts, that is for sure. It amazed me that within a month or so of a new one coming out, you can find almost whole cars just in parts at the meets. They sure total a lot of new cars.

wrecked performance cars

just because you can afford one does not mean you can handle one. i saw lots of high HP cars wrecked back in the 60s during the HP race when performance cars were cheap.
