Re: 1969 J56 Calipers
Curt------
I believe that the J-56 caliper housings carry the same casting number as the non-J-56 variety for any given year(or group of years). J-56 caliper housings are identical to non-J-56 EXCEPT for the fact that the J-56 units have the pad mounting pin boss machined off and two holes drilled at either end of the brake pad mounting slot for J-56 pad retention. A non-J-56 caliper housing can be converted to a J-56 design by performing these simple operations.
The above applies to the front calipers, only, though. The rear J-56 caliper housings were exactly the same as as non-J-56.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

front, outer= 5452273
front, inner= 5452270
rear, outer= 5452284
rear, inner= 5452281
Remember, though, these are CASTING NUMBERS, NOT PART NUMBERS. The castings are MACHINED DIFFERENTLY to produce 7 different PART NUMBERS. Only the two front outers use the same part number. All 6 other positions use a unique finished caliper PART NUMBER. I could provide the part numbers but it's really irrelevant; they've been discontinued for years. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
