I've been following this message board for two years while working on my 61 project. The chassis is now complete while the body is receiving final prep for paint. I purchased the Quanta kit and applied the various paint inspection marks.
I have questions about crayon numbers and inspection marks for my 1961 270HP chassis and engine. I located "359" in handwritten green crayon under the Instrument panel housing, which is the last three numbers of my VIN. Is "359" the job number for my car?
Photos in Noland Adams Restoration Guide show two-digit, hand written numbers on the backs of the right cylinder head (page 144). Numbers also appear on the bell housing (page 182) and the body color written on the front crossmember (page 126). I've seen chassis restorations of later model years with "OK" written on the transmission and rearend housing. I know the referenced photos are from earlier model years. What is typical for a 1961?
