how come my answers do not appear after the poster question but at the end of the thread???? when that happens the person who posted the question may never see the answer unless he reads all the posts.

Re: web site question
Quite simply put, your response would be in response to the original post and not the response to the original second or third post which would make it a level two response instead of a level one response. The square root of the sum of the above would be the new order in which the posts are posted. The original first level response would have priority over the level two response and thus the response would be posted in line with the original post instead of the level one response, on weekdays. All secondary responses, and all weekend responses, posted in response to the original post would also be a level one response so they too would be in that row, along with any and all level two, three etc responses. If a third party responds, it would automatically become a level two response which would automatically change all level three responses to level two. This, obviously, makes all weekend level three responses level four responses.- Top

Re: web site question
Here's how it really works. The original post would be in the first column. (#1) When someone responds to that post, the reply would be in a column one notch to the right, or the #2 column. If several people respond to the original post, they would all be in the #2 column. If, however, someone responds to a post that's in the #2 column, that new post would be in a new column, #3. Now, if someone responds to the original post that's in the #1 column, his post would go back in the #2 column, but below all of the other posts.
It would be easy for the original poster to miss a late reply to his original post, as you mentioned, but he would also receive an email notice of a new reply so I'm sure they would be aware of your post.
I'm sure others can/will explain it a lot better than I can.- Top

Re: web site question
Note the order in which our posts are listed on this topic. Your original post is in the 1st position. (far left) The 2nd and 3rd posts are in response to your original post, so they move one column to the right. However, your 4th post was in response to my #3 post so your #4 post is now a sub heading to #3, not #1, and is moved to the #3 column instead of the #2 column. This continued as I responded to your #4 post but my post was then put in the #4 column. My next post was in response to your original post so my post wound up going back to column #2.
This post, the one I'm pecking at right now, will be in response to your post "I have noticed that people.....", so it will be right under it instead of at the bottom of the list.
Posts are not listed in the order in which they are received because that would unconnect many of the posts. Pretty confusing stuff.- Top

Re: web site question
You have to be an NCRS member for your posts to be right after the question, Clem.
Just kidding.
Also set your preferences to 5 or 7 days, as if it's the default 2 days that can affect the display.

Re: web site question
Ok Clem, try this and see if it changes the way messages are displayed. At the top of the DB page, click on "set preferences". On the next page that pop's up, scroll down and look at your preferences. By default, it should be;
"List Style"...Threaded.
"Display Style"...single message.
"Sort Order"...mixed order.
Let us know if this changes the order in which messages are displayed.- Top

Re: web site question - posible answer
I will give it a shot.
When you click reply to post your entry will be placed unfer the post that you are replying to. If you are currently view the 1st post then it will be indented once. If you are reading a post down the line of indented post and click reply, then your post will be indented under the post you were read when you clicked post response. You need to be carfull as to what you click to read before you post a response.
I posted a responce to the 1st post and have started a new indention.
Now I know you are totaly confused.

If not, then something in your Preferences is not set right or your computer is acting up. Try shutting off your browser (Internet Explorer or Netscape or ??) and starting it again. They mess up more tham most admit.- Top
