    Dennis------

The 7040207 was a "non-EEC" carburetor. So, assuming that this device is original to the carburetor, it could not have been part of the EEC system. The 7040207 is one of the carbs that have been previously reported as having this device, so that "fits the pattern".

As far as I know, the device threaded into the same idle speed screw fitting as used for carbs with a standard-style speed screw. I'm not 100% sure of that, though. It had a very small diameter shaft and the "plunger" contained within it was extremely small in od.

Interesting about the NA9 option. I'm assuming seeing the option in other areas of the country, it would have a carb that went with that option.(7040507 ?, in the case of the L-46).

Sounds like there isn't a positive answer as to the valve being supplied on all, or any 7040207 carbs. I haven't seen the valve referred to in any repair/ service manual. I will be looking for it on 70, L-46's now.
