Ed, where did you find the nonvented cap? All catalogs I have only list the repro vented. My 62 deserves to smell better too! Have tried everthing else. Thanks in advance! Jon

      Hi Jon,

When I bought my 62, it came with a gas cap with a little thumbscrew in the middle. The thumbscrew can be used to open or close the vent. The replacement tank and all from CC included a vented cap. Now I am back to my "original" gas cap with the thumbscrew vent closed, Ah, the sweet smell of success. I suggest you try a regular auto parts dealer like NAPA or AutoZone. You might also be able to block a vented cap, however, I suggest you remove it from the car before firing up the blowtorch.

I find the Corvette catalog guys useful, BUT not necessarily the most accurate, parts providers. Their "one size fits all" parts sometimes leaves something to be desired. I had a similiar problem with front coil springs, and ended up "customizing" a set of springs with a hacksaw. Necessity is the mother of invention. Good luck...Ed
